Actor Websites
Through my studio, I’ve designed and built 40+ custom websites for performers, including Broadway’s Jen Cody and Rebecca Eichenberger. Every site is a full package: visual identity, design, development, and reel and resume editing.
The work
The problem
Casting directors don’t have time to dig
Most performers come to me with a resume PDF, some headshots, and maybe an old site nobody’s touched in years. Casting directors need to find someone fast, get a read on them, and pull up their reel or resume without hunting. An outdated site works against all of that.
My process
Full service, start to finish
Identity first
Before any layout, I define the look: color, type, and photo treatment. A musical theatre performer’s site should feel different from a dramatic actor’s or a comedian’s.
Structure before style
I map out the navigation and content priority first: reel first, resume second, contact easy to find from anywhere.
Custom builds
Every site is designed from scratch in WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace, depending on what the client wants to update themselves. They’re responsive and accessible, since casting directors check sites on their phones just as often as at a desk.
Reels, resumes, and bios
I edit reels, format resumes to be scannable in under a minute, and write bios that sound like the actual person.
Challenges
What every actor site has to get right
- Resumes that skim well. Credits, training, and skills laid out so they can be read in seconds.
- Navigation that stays out of the way. Three or four pages, so the path to the reel is always short.
- Personality, but polished. Memorable enough to stand out, professional enough for an industry audience.
- Easy to update. Headshots and credits change often, so clients can make edits themselves.
Outcome
More auditions, happier clients
Clients have reported booking more auditions and roles, and casting directors have consistently given positive feedback on how the sites present them. I run the whole business end to end, from finding clients and pricing to design, development, and launch.
